Diva Julia Maesa, died 224/5. Denarius (Silver, 19 mm, 2.72 g, 7 h), struck under Severus Alexander, Rome, 225. DIVA MAESA AVG Draped bust of Diva Julia Maesa to right. Rev. CONSECRATIO Diva Julia Maesa, veiled and with fold of drapery floating around her head, holding short scepter in her right hand and reclining left on peacock flying to right. BMC 217 (Severus Alexander). Cohen 3. RIC 378 (Severus Alexander). Very rare. A beautifully toned and unusually well preserved example. Very light porosity and with light deposits on Maesa's cheek, otherwise, good very fine.
